Acid Throne - Kingdom's Death
A once prospering nation finds itself faced with the threat of annihilation as the acid's ambition looms over its cathedrals and courtyards. Impending ruin is indubitably drawing nigh, and the baleful ambience won't allow you to forget it. Menacingly dense clouds continually threaten to climb to crescendos, invoking an imposing sense of trepidation. For an added tinge of evil, the compositions subtly lean into the domain of black metal, resulting in a devastatingly inclement sort of tenebrosity.
Some tracks, namely "River (Bare My Bones)" and "King Slayer," are not unlike a Viking horde marching towards a capital, and their "chugs" support that statement. Who'd ever say bloodthirsty savages offered them more comfort than the charry canopy born to the wistful sky above? The barbarians' footslogs serve as "respites," for the tyrannical mass that sees fit to obfuscate the solar emissions and smother the eyes of messiahs who have saved us all before is anything but conducive to solace.
I've listened to myriad records that are replete with despondency. However, there is something especially special about the sort of lugubriousness the compositions here bear and reflect. I feel that only the most formidable specters would be able to bask in the unabating shade of the opuses without wetting their cloaks, and even then, they might only just barely pull through without pissing themselves.
Kingdom's Death is not for the faint of heart. Sure, perhaps you've seen a bounteous harvest of overcast skies before, but that is put to shame by what you'll see here! The Acid Throne is what the throne in the now withered castle will henceforth be known as!
