As a younger man, before the age where an album could be previewed before being purchased, I would often base my decision to part with my dishwashing money on a cool ass album cover.

Kentucky’s three piece riff monster I Am You has cracked the code with its 2025 Blasphemia Satura. One look at the artwork tells me I want to go to this party even though it scares me more than a little. Make no mistake though, these guys aren’t just a pretty face. This series of notes and words deftly assembled is a sonic odyssey into a hypnotic land.

From the opening “The Unforgivable Sin”, one feels like they are passing between worlds. Confused and mystified until we accept our surroundings and lean into the newfound clarity of this brilliantly crafted dreamscape.

From lyrical content, to musicianship to production, this album is a win. Songs flow perfectly into one another. Time signatures, tone and rhythmic choices creating a hypnotic ebb and flow. In a world of 30-40 minute albums, these guys dare to give us an hour and two minute plasma infused mind clearing musical therapy session,

Flowery banter aside, this thing is amazing. From "The Unforgivable Sin" to "Blasphemia Satura, this is a perfectly framed piece of art. I can’t remember a time when I went so easily between eyes shut doomy swaying to stank faced….well…slighty more aggressive doomy swaying(cus that's how I dance), with such ease. For me, tracks 6 and 7, “The Solution” and “Zarathustra” were particular standouts musically. This is where Blasphemia Satura let me know its not just a pretty good, but a GREAT album. (On a personal note, as someone who has wrestled with mental health most of my life, “The Solution” resonated with me most of all the tracks.)

The more you listen to this, the better it gets, and has become almost a form a meditation for me to hit play on these guys and lose myself for an hour and some. I can’t wait to hear more from I Am You, and sincerely hope to see them live and pick their brains about this absolute fucking gem of an album.
