Spiral Guru - Silenced Voices

With ease, these Brazilians take you to a planet, a galaxy, unimagined. Perhaps slightly unsurprisingly, considering the fact that this is undeniably the product of another world, the fields upon which one may find oneself are a bit bizarre, and the artwork does a fine job of encapsulating the slightly offbeat leanings traversed here.

Mystical saturation spans the little collection of tunes, and mellifluous folky intonations give the choruses that little extra something. Look at "Caves and Graves," for example, a track with a chorus that dances adroitly in the flames kindled by the guys in the band.

While not a single composition here finds itself in a place that is familiar to us, it is the title track that allows us to be caressed gingerly by innocent stars. It is nothing short of celestial. Stellar! (See what I did there?)

This is the kind of group that offers me a conduit that helps me escape what is hopefully just my temporary reality and brings me somewhere packed with adventure. Word on the street is these folks will put more music out this year. If they deliver this sort of quality again, who knows what sort of rift we'll find ourselves travelling through!
