Pipe Dreamer - The Past is Just a Memory

Willows find themselves beleaguered by cascades of precipitation, creating an equation that is not so unlike deluges of tears bedeviling the now waning luster of a recently bereaved man's face. This analogousness offers our hero solace as he gazes into the unshielded world that lies on the other side of his window.

Surges of limbic catering abound here. The overtly present rage, though powerful and convincing, doesn't eclipse the tenderness even slightly, and this is, perhaps, the focal point of the cathartic ride, the way these elements can coexist. 

As a fan of Windhand, I couldn't help but hark back to the days on which I consistently let their brand of fuzz resound in my bedroom when listening to "Just Concerned," which, although not a "full-length" song, makes its point known and is replete with the emotion that typifies Pipe Dreamer's music.

The "I love yous" of "A Simple Request is Made (One More Day)" tugged at my heartstrings more than any other segment of the journey and pack ample feeling, so much so that I can't help but try to shoulder some of the conveyor of those words' grief. Brilliant.

Its brevity notwithstanding, The Past is Just a Memory leaves a trail of sincerity behind as its heart pulsates and emanates a barrage of feelings that are so potent that anyone with half a heart will find something here that resonates with them on some level.
