Spiral Guru - Time Races

 

The title and theme of the song both resonate with me. Life's felt like a leaden mass for quite a while now, and as this constancy dominates, time just vanishes into the ether. It's been nearly a year since I was at that restaurant? Such a surreal sensation.

Spiral Guru have always had a distinctive approach to science fiction-charged tones. I can see them having their own cartoon movie or show (obviously) featuring their music, and this song is no exception. 

As time races, so do technological advancements. While this concept may seem slightly bleak, "Time Races" actually comes across as quite motivational and has a  seize-the-day/you-are-in-charge-of-your-destiny zest to it. Its terminus, though, is slightly sinister and perhaps alludes to what are not-so-pleasant things to come as we lose control of that which we created. 

One thing that's coming in the near future that we have to look forward to, before those unimagined events transpire, is the album on which this track will appear. Rather soon, too, I reckon, and time will race to it!
